I don't know where to begin...food: excellent, authentic, Mexican cuisine with real spices, nothing frozen or canned in this place!
The atmosphere: very clean, great lighting (when did it become trendy to squint to see your food?) large dining area and patio. They also have super drink specials / $12 for pitcher of real
The service: out of this world!
The gentleman who served us, not sure if he is the owner or the manager, was helpful, hilarious, and actually picked out my dinner for me. I had the spicy shrimp quesadillas and it was awesome. Generous portions, very hot and spicy, absolutely delicious. I'm a new regular!
The table next to us was a couple of large families with their tables pushed together and said that they come at least once a week, and I can see why.
I am so glad I accidentally found this place.
Upon leaving I asked the charismatic server his name, he replied "Jose Cuervo".
You will be very happy with this restaurant, don't pass it by. -

Best Mexican in Douglasville!! I come here regularly and the service is always exceptional. The owner is always here and very friendly.
Some days I just have queso and margaritas. Other days I have my usual enchiladas made special by the owner because he knows the way I like them.
Today, I brought a friend who had the Texas fajitas and they did not disappoint. -

The food was great. The service and the vibe was also great. I came to El Don Tequilas with my 11 year old son and we were seated instantly. They brought warm nacho chips and salsa it's at the table. We asked for an order of queso Blanco (white cheese). The small cheese was $3.50 and was more than enough for the chips. I ordered the fajita, as recommended by the waiter and it was more than enough as well. The fajita had chicken, steak strips and shrimp. It was delivered sizzling hot and delicious. My son ordered 1 taco 2 enchiladas and Spanish rice for about $7.50 and he didn't really enjoy the hard taco. He prefers the Taco Bell taste but I told him that taco isn't authentic Mexican food lol. He devoured the enchiladas.
I was able to eat a quarter of my fajita meal because the portion size is enormous. I have a 2 go container with enough food for me and my son tomorrow. That's a big deal because I CAN EAT and hardly have left overs. Anywho, you'll love it. This was my first visit and surely not my last -

As the unassuming exterior of a nearly abandoned shopping plaza presents itself, there is little emotion of excitement that one can experience. Yet, the excitement was soon to come.
After tasting the first bite of the chicken fajitas, it was clear that this is the best fajitas I've ever tried. It probably beat out of a few hundred fajitas at different restaurants that I've tried in my life. Out of all places and given the location away from cities, perhaps I didn't expect it. The chicken was not over cooked, and without any sauce, was flowing with its natural juices, tender and full of flavor. How these folks manage to do that at this price point is beyond my understanding, but it did happen. The decor was pleasant, with wooden chairs and lots of booths.
To be fair, I do have to mention that the salsa was definitely not to my taste, very overpowered with lime and no cilantro. Yet, it was a minor detail in an otherwise spectacular experience. The waiter was extremely kind and the pitchers of beer are around $10, making this establishment a must for anyone passing the town on the Birmingham - Atlanta route of I20. Impressed and will return for more. -

I have been a regular at this place but no longer! A couple of times the bell peppers in the fajitas were off, having that ammonia smell they get one they are spoiled. So I just didn't order the fajitas anymore. But today I ordered guacamole, $3.50 on the menu, clearly stated, and they tried to charge me $4.99. The manager Felix was unpleasant, I had to search out my own silverware and try to get the servers attention for a refill on my soda. On top of that they had the nerve to charge $1.25 to refill a $2.99 soda . This place used to be OK but now it's a ripoff with poor service. Not recommended.
